Pilot for Rover Parking on the horizon for city of Barrie
Yesterday, the Mayor of Barrie Jeff Lehman delivered his most recent ‘state of the city’ address.
The focal point of this most recent talk was ‘Tomorrow is Here Today’ and to emphasize this theme, the Mayor focused on an up and coming Toronto based start up, Rover Parking which operates in the newly defined sharing economy space, more particularly providing a marketplace for shared parking.
To get a clear and accurate understanding of just how powerful this new shared based approach to asset allocation can be, the Mayor also recently met in person with one of the founders of Rover, where the 2 drove around to get an idea of just how much underutilized parking space there is in Barrie. Needless to say, there is an overabundance of unused parking space that can be better put to good use through the help of the Rover Parking APP.
The Mayor explained that the city can make money off parking spaces that sit empty most of the time by listing them on Rover. The full story can be viewed here – https://www.barrietoday.com/local-news/barrie-exploring-pilot-project-with-rover-603855
